A few month agao, a client from Côte d’Ivoire contacted us in search of a heavy-duty transport solution. Given the need to transport massive mining and engineering machinery, the client placed exceptionally high standards on equipment reliability. To meet the requirements of heavy-load operations, we custom-designed a 100 tons lowbed emi trailer. The client was highly satisfied with the design and successfully signed the contract.
The primary reason for purchasing this heavy-duty trailer is the limited self-mobility of large mining and engineering machinery. Whenever massive excavators or tracked vehicles need to be transferred between different mining sites or transported to service centers for maintenance, they rely entirely on lowbed semi-trailers for transport. In terms of operating conditions, while the transport routes are generally accessible, the local environment presents specific challenges. The climate in West Africa is notoriously hot, meaning tires with poor heat dissipation are highly prone to blowouts under heavy loads. Furthermore, loading and unloading these heavy tracked machines exerts tremendous localized crushing pressure on the trailer’s frame. Finally, operators often face long, empty return trips after delivering the equipment.
To resolve the challenges of 100 tons payloads and the destructive pressure from steel tracks, we implemented some structural upgrade. The main beam is built with 25mm thick upper and lower flange plates combined with double 10mm thick web plates, reaching an overall width of 28cm. Crucially, the side beams have been massively reinforced to 30cm in height and 28cm in width. This ultra-wide side beam is specifically engineered to easily withstand the localized pressure exerted by heavy machinery tracks. Additionally, the trailer features heavy-duty large diagonal braces spaced tightly at under 40cm. This dense bracing network evenly distributes the immense payload pressure across the entire frame, significantly multiplying the bearing capacity and ensuring the chassis remains intact.
To adapt to the hot climate and solve the costly issue of empty return trips, we carried out targeted optimizations . The trailer is equipped with premium 315/80R22.5 CHENGSHAN brand tires. Widely utilized by leading truck brands like SINOTRUK and SHACMAN, these tires boast an excellent local reputation. They not only offer superior load-bearing capacity but also feature excellent heat dissipation, effectively preventing blowouts in high-temperature environments. More importantly, the rear 4 axles are fitted with an advanced air suspension system. This allows the operator to lift the rear axles during low-load or empty return trips, drastically reducing driving resistance and eliminating unnecessary tire wear, which lowers long-term operating costs.
