Building on a successful partnership of many years, an existing Nigerian client recently reached out to us as they venture into a completely new business area: LNG/LPG logistics and transport. Because transporting hazardous cryogenic liquids over vast distances leaves no room for equipment failure, the customer needed a trusted supplier with proven reliability. TRUCKMAN engineering team developed a specialized 50 CBM LNG Transport Semi Trailer tailored to these strict demands. Confident in our past collaborations and the new safety upgrades, they finalized a procurement contract for 6 units.
Operating within Nigeria inland routes presents a series of severe logistical and physical challenges. Although hazardous liquid transport fleets strictly plan their routes on paved highways, the local infrastructure is often poorly maintained. Drivers frequently encounter sudden potholes, uneven asphalt, and constant vibrations during long journeys. Due to the combined pressure of heavy payloads and these persistent bumps, structural deformation problems will be a challenge to the trailers. Furthermore, the notoriously hot climate in West Africa poses dual threats: it severely reduces tire heat dissipation, increasing blowout risks under heavy loads, and accelerates LNG boil off, creating dangerous internal pressure spikes.
To address these structural and safety issues caused by bumpy paved roads, we used a solid Q550D high strength steel frame with a 16mm thick lower flange. This provides unmatched rigidity to absorb continuous road vibrations and completely eliminates the risk of chassis fracture. Crucially, the inner tank is made of S30408 stainless steel, maintaining exceptional low temperature toughness to resist brittle cracking under stress. To counter the extreme ambient heat, we implemented high vacuum multi layer insulation. This guarantees an extremely low daily evaporation rate, keeping the internal pressure completely stable and safe.
To further extend the semi trailer service life and ensure hazardous transport safety, the vehicle is equipped with premium components. The chassis features three 13 ton FUWA axles, JOST landing gear, and a JOST kingpin. For the tires, we upgraded from 12R22.5 tires to premium 315/80R22.5 Triangle brand tires. These provide far superior driving stability and exceptional heat dissipation in high temperature environments, preventing blowouts. Additionally, a highly responsive WABCO ABS braking valve is installed, and all safety relief valves are integrated into a fully enclosed lockable operation box to effectively minimize damage and replacement needs.
