The cylindrical lights mounted on the cab roof act as the tallest and most prominent light source on the vehicle in nighttime, rainy or foggy conditions. Together with the vehicle’s marker lights, these lights enable surrounding vehicles to quickly judge the overall vertical height and front position of the tractor trailer combination. This prevents smaller vehicles from misjudging distances when they perform lane changes or overtaking maneuvers, avoiding scrapes with the trailer or underride collisions caused by misjudging the height of the tractor’s cab.
