In June, a customer from Guinea contacted us. They had previously purchased 10 SHACMAN F3000 8×4 dump trucks from us, but as their business expanded, the 8×4 dump truck’s load capacity no longer met their needs. So, they came to China to discuss a better solution. Through discussions with both the customer and our factory, we ultimately designed a 4 axles 120 ton side dump semi trailer. This semi-trailer can carry up to 120 tons, far exceeding the load capacity of the SHACMAN 8×4, effectively meeting their current and future needs. After explaining the features of this semi-trailer to the customer, they were very satisfied, especially with its load capacity, and readily paid a deposit. We completed production and arranged shipment in July, and they expressed their interest in placing an additional order for 30 units.
To meet our customers’ heavy-duty demands, we abandoned conventional designs and configurations and opted for a vehicle specifically designed for these requirements. Conventional axles typically carry 13 or 16 tons, but we opted for 20-ton FUWA heavy-duty axles, significantly increasing the vehicle’s load-bearing capacity. The heavy-duty suspension, comprised of twelve 120mm-wide, 16mm-thick leaf springs, provides sufficient shock absorption even under a full load. Conventional rims are 16mm thick, but 20mm thick rims were used. These rims, paired with 325/95R24 tires, significantly increase load-bearing capacity, ensuring reliable operation even under a full load. The beam, a crucial component of the semitrailer, also uses heavy-duty dimensions, with 20mm thickness for the upper and lower fenders and 14mm for the web. This increased thickness determines the semitrailer’s maximum load capacity. This combination of features contributes to the side dump semi-trailer’s 120-ton load capacity.
In addition to the aforementioned design modifications specifically tailored to heavy-duty requirements, our semi-trailer’s advanced production technology also plays a significant role. For example, laser-assisted plate cutting enables automated cutting, significantly improving cutting accuracy compared to manual labor. This results in more precise beam dimensions with less error. Subsequent submerged arc welding is also automated, making it suitable for welding high-strength steel and other materials, particularly long welds and continuous welding of thick plates. Furthermore, the flux and slag isolate the air, slowing cooling and reducing defects like porosity and cracks. This ensures uniform weld mechanical properties and extends the beam’s service life. Shot blasting and electrostatic spraying technologies used on the cargo box enhance the paint’s longevity and adhesion.
